This is my second best Legazpi. There is no damage on the holder except there is very little gold leaf inside the resin. The holder is fully functional.

Legazpi is made from Kamagong (Ironwood) wood and Clear Resin with Gold Leaf Accents fitted with brass bullock adjustable flange.

Miguel López de Legazpi (c. 1502 – August 20, 1572), was a Basque-Spanish navigator and governor who established the first Spanish settlement in the East Indies when his expedition brought him to Maynila in 1570. The Spaniards occupied the ruins of Maynilad from the Rajahs and Legazpi immediately ordered the construction of a new city. Legazpi declared the area of Maynila as the new capital of the Spanish colony on June 24, 1571 because of its strategic location and rich resources. Under Spain, Maynila became the colonial entrepot in the Far East. The Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade route between the Philippines and Mexico flourished from 1571 until 1815. Maynila became famous during the Manila-Acapulco trade which brought the goods as far as Mexico all the way to Southeast Asia.

I named this holder LEGAZPI after the Spanish conquistador who rebuilt Maynila and the first gobernador general of the Philippine Islands.
