LAKAN, which means “Lord” in ancient Tagalog is my tribute to the ancient nobility in the Kingdom of Maynila.  Long before the colonial period in the Philippines, the Kingdom of Maynila was ruled by aristocracy and lordships.  Its members were presumably the descendants of the first settlers on the land or, in the case of later arrivals, of those who were Lakans at the time of migration or conquest.

The LAKAN holder symbolizes this nobility and fitting for the most regal holder of this series.
